Reviews of the Best Composite (AV, RCA) to HDMI Converter

Video quality

To test this system, we used a few different configurations. For starters, we hooked up our Super Nintendo to revisit some of our favorite games. The Super Nintendo is an excellent system for testing these types of adapters for different reasons. The low resolution means that there are a lot of sharp pixels. If the upscaling engine is subject to errors, these pixels will appear skewed. SNES also has a large color palette and some advanced visual effects (for now) that many scaling engines tend to have trouble doing.

Overall, we were pretty impressed. The picture was very clear and clear, and she did an excellent job of handling the most difficult visual effects.

There was a feature that could be good or bad depending on how you feel about the video. When you use this adapter, the image is stretched to fit your screen. In most cases, this means taking a 4: 3 video and stretching it to fit a 16: 9 widescreen. For us, it's best to use black bars on each side. But it will be something you will want to decide for yourself.

Akale AV to HDMI Converter. Best RCA to HDMI Converter

Most of their business relying on analog-to-digital converters, selling fully-packaged consumer adapters was a logical step. Their hardware has been used in many different TVs for a long time, and now this technology is available in addition to your existing multimedia center.

Design

The Akale AV to HDMI converter is certainly one of the most attractive converters on the market. It is a table model that allows him to sit comfortably in front of your media center. That being said, he is still small and light enough to slip behind, where no one can see him. This last situation is preferable to those of you who prefer to keep your cables clean and organized.

If you prefer to keep it in front, you will appreciate the elegant case. The top is engraved with a striking chrome logo, with a green Akale logo screenprinted in the center. The RCA ports are located at the front, gently recessed into the plastic enclosure. The HDMI port is located at the rear, with the micro-USB input. This model does not require selecting the 1080p or 720p output modes, but you must select the PAL or NTSC input on the back via a small toggle switch.

Compatibility

One of the main reasons we chose this converter is that it supports all analog standards, whether modern or dated. Like the previous model, you get all versions of NTCS, all separate regions of PAL, and even rarer formats like SECAM.

It works with 1080p and 720p TVs and the correct resolution is automatically selected after negotiation with your TV. We found this feature very effective, with a small exception. There are some TVs on the market that come with non-standard resolutions. This is particularly common with plasmas, many of which were 768p. These TVs need to report a standard resolution, so they usually signal themselves as 1080p. This causes the adapter to adjust to 1080p, then reduce to 768p. It's not ideal, but it does not really make a big difference. If this is the case with your TV, we recommend using a different model. Best RCA to HDMI Converter

Video quality

Akale did a great job with the noise reduction circuit on this particular converter. You've probably noticed that there are strange fuzzy lines around bright color changes when using a composite video. But there are circuits inside this converter that can almost completely remove it. This filter depends on the resolution, so you must choose PAL or NTSC on the back. Technically, it will always work if you have the wrong option selected. But selecting the right option will improve the quality of the video a bit.

One of the things we liked about this converter is that it streams video in 4: 3. By default, you will have black bars on the side of your TV, but the picture will not be stretched. If you do not like that, most TVs have built-in stretching, so you can usually change that if you wish.

EnKo Mini Composite AV to HDMI Adapter

Some people just want to plug in their old VHS tapes and review some of their favorite classic movies. This is done for simplicity. Why buy the DVD, when you already have the cassette next to you? In some circumstances, it is not convenience that drives our use of technology, it is respect. Star Wars, for example, has only released a copy of the original LaserDisk video.

Other media, such as video games, are never as enjoyable as on the original console. If you're looking for an experience you can not get in digital, you need to make sure you get the best possible representation of this game. In this case, enKo's AV to HDMI converter is for you. This is the best material available, and offers the most accurate conversion possible.

Design

While the enKo converter costs a few dollars more than the competing models, the quality is evident in the design. The speaker is made of a very stiff plastic and feels incredibly sturdy in the hand. The analog connectors are securely mounted in the case and stand out like the classic connectors to which you are accustomed. They are not hidden, and they are made from a highly conductive material that does not add any noise. All the cables you need are available, including RCA and HDMI.

There are several versions of this adapter, including those that offer you a Svideo port in addition to the AV ports, so any analog support you have can be properly converted for use on your HDTV.

Compatibility

You will notice that there are several versions of this adapter. It is important to read the descriptions carefully as some of them are used to convert the HD digital signal into analog composite. But as long as you are aware of this, there is a version of this adapter to support any conversion. The default template converts any analog composite video to HDMI. It supports NTSC, PAL, SECAM and all local revisions. You can also get one with an optional support for Svideo, or a coaxial output. While the same basic conversion chipset is used, the noise filtering chipset is unique to the type of video you select. This is particularly important with analog signals because noise is highly dependent on the medium.

You must select PAL or NTSC on the side, but the HD resolution is always negotiated automatically. This default converter is 1080p unless you connect a TV that is 720p only. This means that if you use a 4K TV, it will be automatically scaled twice. Once through the adapter, and once through your TV.

Video quality

This is the area where the adapter really shines. The first thing we noticed about it was how amazing the colors were. They were rich, vibrant and incredibly faithful to life. Most digital videos have a higher bit depth than analog. This is not to say that digital TVs always produce more vivid colors, which is the case with HDR content. It's just that there is a wider color strip, and more information is needed to get the ultra-rich color palettes. Even if your TV has an analog input, the color will often be dull compared to what you would see on a high-end tube TV.

But this adapter compensates for this and produces one of the most accurate reproductions we've seen. The noise filtering is impeccable. The pixels are sharp, and there is virtually no distortion to see. Of course, the picture does not look like HD quality. But that made our classic games live, giving us visuals that we never imagined. It's like playing our games while wearing glasses for the first time. We were constantly surprised to think "oh, that's what it should look like!"

If you spend your childhood playing NES on your parents' old-fashioned TV, you need to relive those experiences as they were meant to be seen. Best RCA to HDMI Converters
